Today I started a new career at Nexstar Media as a Main Operator. I LOVE IT. I want to thank Lynda and Houda and everyone at Ohio Media School for making dreams come true. — Robert Baliker Sr. DENVER, COLORADO, USA, June 3, 2022 / — The Beonair network of media schools is thrilled to announce that it is following in the footsteps of its 35 graduates recently hired by Nexstar Media Group, Inc., has also started working as a primary control operator for this industry leader. What makes this hire extra special is the collaboration across campuses and the relationship in place with Nexstar Media Group, Inc. that would open the door and change Robert’s life.

Robert enrolled in Ohio Media School because he was looking for a career change. A veteran firefighter, he spent 23 years as a volunteer firefighter, the last 7 years as a first lieutenant. He always had a passion for the media and a love for being on the air, and decided to commit to going back to school and fulfilling his dream.

Taking advantage of a remote internship made available by campus partner Colorado Media School, Robert was able to hone his skills and gain additional experience in front of and behind the mic. Thanks to a very successful radio show, Robert was promoted to content and technical producer. Taking advantage of the relationships he built, Robert decided he would head to Denver after graduation to start his new career.

The Beonair network of media schools comprises 7 campuses, each with its own career services department that works in tandem with its own students as they explore their career options and their graduates seek employment. With an open door policy, campuses work together when a graduate moves to another market.

Upon arriving in Denver, the first thing Robert did was contact Deborah Byrd, Director of Career Services at Colorado Media School, to ask for help in his career search. Working with Ohio Media School’s Director of Career Services, Houda Crable, outreach has begun.

With a great relationship in place with Charles Longfellow, Nexstar Media Hub Manager in Denver, Robert was able to secure an immediate interview. Well prepared to join the Nexstar team through hands-on training at Ohio Media School, Robert was offered the job on the spot!

Grateful for his career start, Robert posted this on social media, “…today I started a new career at Nexstar Media as a Main Operator. I LOVE IT.
